  1. Where are you located? Are you in the washington, dc area?

    • Hi Deborah,
I am located physically in Northern Virginia, but I can (and do) offer services to anyone anywhere. We can speak by telephone, or Skype. In some cases, such as a client in Hawaii, I am able to conduct services via email. Of course, if you would like to meet in person and you are in the DC area, you are in luck!

  2. What kind of resume packages do you have?

    • Carlitha,
Thank you for contacting me! I offer a variety of packages. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact me at tina.michelle.sims@gmail.com. I would be happy to create an individualized package to meet your needs.

  3. Hi Tina,

I would like we meet in person in DC. Please let me know when you are available for that.

    Thank you in advance.

    • Let me know what your resume or job search needs are and I would be happy to set up an appointment.

  4. Hello. I have a resume/job-search related question. Specifically, I am a military spouse and we are currently living in England. Due to family obligations, I agreed to be a stay-at-home mom while my children were very young. During this time, I have completed my Bachelor’s and will obtain my Master’s in May of 2015. Now that my children are older, I am wanting to re-enter the work world but am facing several obstacles.

My husband is Navy, but doing a personnel exchange so he works with the British military. Although there are some jobs available there, we live nearly 2 hours from the closest U.S. military base so those are not feasible options for me. In addition, more specific to the local British job market , there are a plethora of jobs available however they are either outside of the (reasonable) commutable area, barely pay minimum wage — which reduces the sensibility of even seeking these positions because I would end up spending most of the money earned on after school child care–, or the undertaking of relaying a comparative analysis of requisite skill sets earned in the U.S. to those required for a UK position are beyond daunting.

We have approximately 2 more years in England and as I look to re-enter the work world, I desperately want to evolve away from entry-level administrative/clerical positions as both my education and corporate workplace experience garner and necessitate something beyond that. I explore various job sites which offer virtual professional (experienced, manager, etc.) positions and aside from those in the IT industry which I am not interested in, there are jobs available however they require someone who is physically in the U.S. As you can imagine, I do have an APO, AE U.S. mailing address but I am physically in another country which seems (along with the need to reboot my resume) to eliminate me from consideration. Personally, I am not bothered by the time difference between myself and potential employers in that I am able (and willing) to work the hours necessary (for their business operations) to make things work but if my physical location is a hindrance what am I to do?

Although we are not out on the battlefield, mil spouses sacrifice & serve in other ways with very little say with where we (physically) live and the vast majority of us would still love to have lasting, fulfilling careers. I am so frustrated that I don’t know what to do! So my question is…do you know if there are (legitimate) employment websites which address these challenges, and seek to recruit candidates in this unique circumstance (i.e. physically outside of the U.S. but wanting to work for a company in the U.S. and this aside are otherwise qualified for the job(s)? If so, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

By the way…I will be sending you my resume for a critique, many thanks in advance!

    • Thanks so much for contacting me! I am going to email a reply to you, but the short answer is YES! There are several different organizations dedicated to help spouses in your situations.I look forward to sharing some thoughts with you.

  5. Hello,
I came across your web page by googling certified resume writers. Then I clicked your LinkedIn and you are associated with 3 or 4 of the same members I am associated. The comments stop in 2013 – are you still in business? If so – I am a Federal Employee who is in need of BOTH a Federal resume and a resume for the Private sector. I would like to discuss what your recommendations are for writing my LinkedIn page, and a cover letter; and of course costs. Look forward to hearing from you.

    • Hi Leslie,
Yes, I am still in business. I will contact you privately. Thank you so much for reaching out! I look forward to speaking with you!

  6. Hello Tina. I found your name and resume while I was researching updated resume templates. I, like CDH above, am a military spouse who left a fulfilling, full-time career in public policy to support my husband’s career and begin our family across multiple military relocations. Now, we have relocated back to Washington, DC for good and I’m looking to return to the Hill permanently. Do you have familiarity editing resumes for Hill work (specifically) Legislative Assistant/Aide positions in the Senate)? Secondly, what are you packages and associated prices? I feel that my resume is strong in terms of content, but needs tightening/key word tweaking and an eye for making sure the style and headers are the most updated. Depending on the price, I may have you review my LinkedIn profile also as I’m not as confident that I can translate my skills in a social media platform appropriately. I’m looking forward to talking with you. Susan

    • Susan,
Thank you so much for contacting me! I am going to contact you offline to discuss your needs.
      Thanks again!
